Furnishing My Home!

A blog about d-i-y-s and decors that inspire me

Bookshelves For Children

These adorable 8 story-book shelves are by Spanish Brand – Studio Menut.  They are in the shapes of the forest animals.  Here is the little story behind these cute bookshelves.

“Once upon a time, there were forest animals whose sole mission was to guard story-books during the day so children could enjoy them before bedtime. Sleep tight, for they guard your story-books”.

Great decor for the children’s bedroom.

a green Christmas

I am sure almost every home has their Christmas tree up already. I am such a slacker when it comes to this. Can you believe it that I haven’t gotten mine yet? I don’t want to go out and get a tree this year because after every Christmas, the tree will be thrown away. I am opting for a ‘green’ tree and plan to do this with my kid later on.

A cardboard tree which I got from Pinterest.  Pretty cool right?  I have a similar idea to do a tree using cardboard but in a different shape.  I am wondering if I can use a turnbuckle to keep the cardboard tree sturdy.  Can’t wait to get started on our little project.  Try this idea out if you are like me who prefer an environmentally-friendly Christmas tree for your home.

Hoot Your Bathroom

I just came across these cute little shower curtain rings at ModCloth.com last night.   Aren’t they adorable?  These festive owls come in a flock of twelve and are available in green, gold, white and blue.  Definitely a great way to spruce up the bathroom or add a little whimsical touch to your children’s bathroom.  I have a friend who is very into owl motifs right now and her birthday is coming up soon.  Perhaps I should get a set for her as birthday gift.   I will check them out again after I have helped my friend to order the Diamond-Blades.

Strapping Storage Bins For Children’s Room

I am loving these colouful storage bins from Land of Nod.  I bet they look just great in children’s bedroom or playroom.  These storage bins are nice and deep which make them perfect to hole toys, books or whatever knick-knacks.  They are woven over a sturdy steel frame.    Available in a variety of colours like blue, pink, orange, green and more.   If you are looking for some storage bins to organize the room, well do check out Land of Nod.    An idea just struck me.  I can even use them to make adorable baby gift baskets. My good friend will be giving birth next month so I think this would be a perfect gift. I can put some baby clothes, socks and bibs into one of the bins and wrap it with a transparent wrapping paper.   Nice?

Children Bedroom Inspiration

I was blog hopping a while ago to get some inspiration on how to decorate my niece’s and nephews’ bedroom.  My sister is planning to give her children’s room a makeover and had asked me for suggestion.    Both of them are sharing the bedroom.  When I was at Design Is Mine, I saw this simple bedroom decor that is pretty neat.

I love the different shades of blue on the floor.  I also love the look of two different beds in the same room.  They go pretty well together.  The framing of the Dandy magazine on the wall is just the right touch for a kid’s bedroom.

Bedroom Inspiration

Besides transforming the patio floor, my friend is planning to give her teen’s room a makeover.  She asked me if I have any good ideas to share with her regarding the decor for her teen’s room.  A while ago, I remember seeing this lovely room at Apartment Therapy.  It belonged to a 14-year old girl and she designed the room herself.  How brilliant eh?  What I like about this room is that it has a simple design but it is so stylish.   I think my friend can draw some inspiration from this bedroom.

I heart this wall gallery.

Cute Nursery Decor

I was blog-hopping last night and came upon this cute little nursery by Sissy & Marley.   I just love the elephant theme in this room for little people.  In case you don’t know.  I have deep fascination with elephants.  I adore these gentle giants and so when I came upon this nursery decor, I was giddy with excitement.  Let me show you some photos below.

Simple and nice eh?  I love the little buntings on the wall.  Can you spot the elephant toys on the shelf?

Love the elephant picture all framed up on the wall.

Fabric Wall Stickers For Children’s Bedroom

Besides getting a two step stool for my kitchen, I am also thinking of getting some wall stickers for my daughter’s bedroom.  Yes, I still haven’t done decorating her bedroom yet.   I think some wall stickers or decals would be a nice touch.  I found a few lovely ones from Pop And Lolli last night.  They are fabric stickers which are very easy to install.  Just peel and stick.

Tweetie Birdies

Check them out if you are looking for decals for your children’s bedroom.
