Furnishing My Home!

A blog about d-i-y-s and decors that inspire me

Bedroom Inspiration

Besides transforming the patio floor, my friend is planning to give her teen’s room a makeover.  She asked me if I have any good ideas to share with her regarding the decor for her teen’s room.  A while ago, I remember seeing this lovely room at Apartment Therapy.  It belonged to a 14-year old girl and she designed the room herself.  How brilliant eh?  What I like about this room is that it has a simple design but it is so stylish.   I think my friend can draw some inspiration from this bedroom.

I heart this wall gallery.

my dream home

I was blog-hopping last night and I stumbled upon this website where I found my dream home.  My heart just leaped with joy when I saw it.  I just love everything about this house.  It is so beautiful.  I would love to have an airy and open house like this.  It has a minimalist design and what I love most is the white interior.   Certain parts of the house even has white flooring.  That makes it so neat and tidy.

house tour i love

I was blog-hopping at Decorology just now and came across this house that I really love.  Actually I love everything about this house, from its wall colour to the little knick-knacks.  I can so live in a house like this.

Check out the cool ladder storage against the wall.  An awesome way to store the shoes.  I would love to have one in my room to store a few of my precious nubuck leather shoes and wedges.

Recycled tin cans as storage.  Lovely.

I love the coffee table

Painted Rugs, Anyone?

I was blog-hopping at my favourite blogs earlier and came upon these great ideas for the home – Painted Rugs.  I have never thought of this before.  A very clever and fun alternative to rugs.  You know how rugs are.  They can get very dusty and vacuuming them will not solve the problem.  I love concrete flooring and if I were to add a painted rug on the floor, it will just be perfect.  So practical and hygienic.  I can picture myself chilling in a home like the photos below, enjoying my cuppa while wrapped in a heated blanket.

Outdoor Wedding Ideas

A close friend of mine is planning for her wedding which will be held this September.  She wants an outdoor wedding and have been looking around for some inspiration.  She is trying to gather ideas on how to decorate her wedding venue and plan to do everything herself instead of hiring a wedding planner.  Her husband-to-be plays in a band at the local bar during weekends and for their wedding,  he plans to perform too.  So they will be needing a stage at the wedding for the performance, complete with Blackstar Amps and etc. It is going to be so much fun.  I found some interesting wedding decor at Pinterest and I am sure my friend would be thrilled.

Headboards Inspiration

A friend of mine plans to give her bedroom a makeover.  She is very inspired by some of the decor blogs, especially those who used recycled or diy headboards for the bed.  My friend told me that she wants to buy a bed without headboard so that she can make her own using pieces of wood or an antique door.  Sounds exciting huh?  Once I am done going through the ISO 27001, I want to show her what I found from http://frenchbydesign.blogspot.com.

My Kind Of Home

I was helping a friend to buy gold online the other day when I stumbled upon a beautiful home featured in SF Girl By Bay.  It is just the kind of home that I love.  I can picture myself staying in a house like this.  So cozy and inviting.  The home has white walls and flooring.  It is filled with knick-knacks such as bamboo or wicker baskets and lots of vintage and wood furniture.  Here are some photos of the home.

DIY Basket Lampshade

While my spouse cannot wait to get his hands on a coolant pump, I cannot wait to find myself some big baskets.  I saw this DIY Basket Lampshade at annaleenashem.blogspot.com and was blown away.  They are so simple and beautiful.  I am so inspired to do a few for my home.  According to the blog owner, she turned the basket upside down and put a plastic suspension device through  the bottom of the basket.  Then she painted the basket black.  A very simple DIY Basket Lampshade and the result is amazing.

Wood Pallet Turned Into A Bookshelf

I am loving this Front Facing Bookshelf.  It is actually a wood pallet that has been repurposed to a book shelf.   I love wood pallets and this is another great and creative idea on using them around the home.   This bookshelf is made from 2 wooden pallets and painted in white.   This bookshelf looks great in the home or office.  I bet you can even display the plastic business cards or flyers in the office.  Hop over to Ana-White.com for more creative ideas using wooden pallet.
